Life Legacy
Ellen J. Cornelis of Davenport, formerly of Moline, passed away Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Kahl Home, Davenport.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Sacred Heart Church, Moline. Visitation will be 4 -7pm Monday at Rafferty Funeral Home, 2111-1st St A, Moline with a combined Rosary recited by the Sacred Heart Altar and Rosary Society and National Catholic Society of Foresters, where she was a member, at 3:30pm. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Memorials can be made to Kahl Home, Davenport.
Ellen was born December 13, 1924 in Compton, CA, the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Byrnes Bohman. She married Walter A. Cornelis on May 4, 1946 in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on January 13, 2011.
Ellen was a great baker and was known for her Lemon Meringue pies. She enjoyed golfing, playing cards and loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Marikay (Pat) Trimble, Rock Island; sons, Thom (Marcia) Cornelis, Moline, Jim Cornelis, East Moline, Bill (Mary) Cornelis, Moline, Michael Cornelis (Susan Riley), Columbus, OH and Dann Cornelis, Moline; sister, Bette Reithoffer, Sun City Center, FL; grandchildren, Kelly Cornelis, Kara Scoggins, Scott Cornelis, T.J. Cornelis, Ryan Trimble, Meghan Hansen, Kevin Trimble, Bridget Trimble, Katie Cornelis, Sarah Palmer, Laura Cornelis, Tim Cornelis, Zach Cornelis, Betsy Carr and Hope Cornelis and great grandchildren, Ella Cornelis, Finn Scoggins and Will Cornelis.
The family would like to offer their thanks to the Sisters and staff at the Kahl Home for their loving care.
