Biography
Jose A. Cantú, 88, of Rock Island, passed away Sunday August 1, 2010 at his home.
Funeral service will be 10:30am Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Rafferty Funeral Home 2111-1st St A, Moline. Visitation will be 4 -8pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island.
Jose was born July 2, 1922 in Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico, the son of Ramon and Ninfa Guerra Cantú. He married Esther Jasso on June 12, 1946 in Nuevo Laredo, Tamps, Mexico.
Jose was a carpenter for several construction companies.
Jose was a member of the Spanish Mennonite Church, Moline.
Survivors include his wife, Esther; daughters and sons-in-law, Esther and Refugio Nache of Moline and Silvia and Rogelio Almanza of Rock Island; sons and daughters-in-law, Felipe and Maria Louisa Cantú, Miguel and Esperanza Cantú, Carlos Cantú, Ricardo Cantú, Alejandro Cantú and Ramon Cantú all of Rock Island; 30 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild and a sister, Anna Maria Sanchez of Laredo, TX.
