Biography

Leola C. Stamps, 95 of Moline IL, formerly of Pontiac , IL , died on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf , IA.

Funeral services will be on Monday, August 2, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Pontiac. Burial will be at South Side Cemetery, Pontiac. Visitation will be Sunday, August 1, 2010 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home in Pontiac. Memorials in Leola’s name may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Pontiac or Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.

Leola was born January 21, 1915 in Palmer Rapids, Ontario , Canada , a daughter of Rev. Gustav and Emma (Mentzel) Pranschke. She married Erwin Stamps on June 16, 1937 in Darmstad , IN. He preceded her in death on July 19, 1956.

Survivors include one son: David M. Stamps (Sandra) of Carmel, IN; two daughters: Patricia Madson of Seattle, WA, and Kathy Lootens (Bill) of Moline, IL; eight grandchildren: Dina Madson, David Madson, Laura Shirley, Kimberly Madson, Peter Lootens, Krista Lootens, Sarah (Stamps) Woolson, and Matthew Stamps; a sister: Doris Waldron; sister-in law: Hilde Pranschke and 7 great grandchildren.

Leola was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers: Leonard, Delbert, Harold, Roy and Richard Pranschke.

Leola was educated in Evansville, IN schools and was a secretary at Johnson and Taylor Law Firm in Pontiac for 36 years. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Pontiac for more than 60 years.
