Kenneth W. Johnson, 78, of Moline, passed away Monday July 26, 2010 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis.

Funeral service will be 10am Saturday, July 31, 2010 at Rafferty Funeral Home 2111-1st St A, Moline. Visitation will be 4 -8pm Friday, July 30, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Moline Memorial Park Cemetery, Moline with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 246, Moline. Memorials can be made to Niabi Zoo or Alzheimer’s Association.

Kenny was born April 12, 1932 in Moline, the son of Joseph and Gunhild Allert Johnson. He married Barbara Peterson on January 13, 1952 in Moline.

Kenny was a US Army veteran having served in the Korean War.

Kenny retired in 1996 as Vice President for Export Packaging Company, Milan. Prior to his retirement, he was instrumental in coordinating major improvements at the Niabi Zoo.

Kenny was a member of Niabi Zoological Society, Pinnacle Country Club, Milan, Viking Club, Moline, Elks Club, Moline, American Legion Post 246, Moline and was a former member of the Moose Club, Moline. He enjoyed big band music, working in the yard and spending time with his family and friends. He loved the game of golf and played numerous times in the Quad City Pro AM.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Mark Kowalski of Clifton Springs, NY; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Johnson and Deni McCarter of Moline, Joseph and Ellie Johnson of Moline and Marte and Kathy Johnson of Moline; grandchildren, Erin, Ken, Jeff, Nicole, Ryan, Joey and Eric; great grandchildren, Kara, Maggie and Finnegan; and Uncle, Lee and Dorothy Davis of Moline.
